These are without a doubt my most favorite cookies ever. I only make them once a year because I have absolutely no self control against them. Most of the time when I bake, I find that by the time I'm done I no longer crave what it is I'm making, but that is not the case with these. Before I know it I will have down 5, so I only give myself permission to make these at Halloween. I started making these for Halloween because I've always thought they somewhat resemble witches hats, but really that just gives me the excuse I want to actually make these cookies. They are seriously amazing!! You gotta try them!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar, plus 1/2 cup sugar for rolling
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups peanut butter {chunky or smooth}
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 48 Hershey Kisses
Cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mix well after each addition. Add peanut butter and vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl mix together flour and baking soda. Gradually add to peanut butter mixture, mixing till texture is consistent throughout the dough.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a cookie sheet. Roll dough into 1-in. round balls and roll into sugar to coat.
Place 1-in. to 2-in. apart on cookie sheet and lightly press down on top of round dough to flatten slightly.
Bake for 12 minutes. After cookies are done and while they are still hot place a Kiss in the middle of each cookie. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Best if served warm while chocolate is melted.

I made peanut butter blossoms for the first time last Christmas. I was obsessed! So I now consider them a Christmas cookie and will only make them around Christmas time, hehe. :)
They look cute on the plate. Peanut butter, yummy.
